Mitsubishi Repair: Mitsubishi galant trouble, mitsubishi galant, air filter oil

I was driving an my engine started to sputter like it wanted to shut off but it kept running but at a studdering pace, when I stepped on the gas I did'nt get a whole lot of acceleration, could this be my timing belt?

Ken: How many miles is on your car? When is the last time you did a good tune up. Stark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, air filter, oil change and the such? How old are the belts in the car? I would do the easy things before getting to up, up on the timing belt. Not that you shouldn't think about changing that, if the car has over 80,000 miles on it. Or if more and you never had that done. But still I would try the tune up to see if it helps the car and then do that timing belt. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
