Mitsubishi Repair: Mistubishi Lancer 95 GLXI, vacuum leak, fuel pumps

Question
Hi!, I would just like to know the ideal idling for my 95 lancer. Idling goes up to 2000 when I start the engine in the morning, then goes down to 1200 at idle. When the aircon is turned on, the idling drops to 900. When the aircon goes automatic, idling returns to 1200. What is wrong with my car? Thanks in advance!

Answer
Olan: Gee, it could be alot of different things. I mean it could be something going bad with the ac(air conditioner) or the car. When it the last time you did a tune up on this car? Stark plugs, new stark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, air filter, fuel filter? How old are the belts on the car. They might be slipping some, should be replaced. Have you ever had your car coded? As the computer might kick out the problem with a print out. Is there a check engine light that might jump on and then go out? Should have your fuel pump tested to make sure it is putting out enough fuel. You know don't you that the pump is cooled by the fuel. A lot of people have run their cars down to empty before filling them up. And soon they will cook the pump by doing this. It is better to only go down to 1/4 empty. Been replacing a lot of fuel pumps of late. So there is some idea to check. Another one would be a vacuum leak too. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
