Mitsubishi Repair: Crankshaft Positions Sensor Location, crankshaft position sensor, sensor location

Can you tell me where the Crankshaft Position Sensor is on a 96 Galant.  I'm trying to determine how easy it is to get to and whether I should do the work myself or take it to someone.  Any help would be appreciated.

Bryan: It is in the distrbutor, find the stark plugs and follow the wires from the stark plugs back to the distributor. You will have to replace the distributor well some call this piece a distributor cap and with it is the rotor. I would get both parts and change them both. Rememeber now, if you decided to do a tune up at the same time. Start with one stark plug wire, stark plug at a time. Don't take them all off at the same time or you will mess up the timing. If you are just going to do the distributor cap, then again do just one wire at a time. As the crankshift position sensor is in the distributor cap. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
