Mitsubishi Repair: 1998 eclise hood release, eclise, release lever

Question
My son has 98 eclipse and he can't get the hood release to work. Is there a way to manually open the hood or to acces the release lever form outside the car or getting under it. I don't know if the cable is broke or what. Thanks

Stephen: You will have to take your car into a shop to get this fixed if the cable is broken. You could try pulling on the release lever and then knocking on the front of the hood. Could be it is stuck or rusty. If you do get the hood open, you need to remember to put some wd40 oil on the cable because it does get rusty. Other wise if this does not work, you will have to take the car to a shop. ~Linda~
