Mitsubishi Repair: 02 Mitsubishi Galant es, mitsubishi galant, battery cables

Question
I have an 02 galant 4cylinder.  Recently my starter went, so I replace the starter myself.  Got the car to start, runs great for a day.  Later found out the motor was shaking at idle, lost power, it runs but had no power. Check engine light also came on and smell like electrical burn. recheck everything and it is right and secure.. don't know if this is an spark plugs and coil.. other than that don't really know where to start?? if you have any idea reply back soon..

Answer
Moua: You need to have your car coded to rule out any problems with a sensor(s) or the computer. AutoZone will do that coding for free. If is a sensor or more replace them. Other wise, you could have burnt the starter relay, or are you sure you hooked all the wires up right to the starter. Battery cables on right? With the electrical burn sounds like a short someplace but with the check engine light on; the car's computer is picking up a problem in the system and so telling you to get it checked out. Takes three things to get a car down the road, stark, fuel and air but then the computer had to mix them all together right too. So have the car coded. As long as the car run fine before you replaced the starter, I would again check your work on that starter. Or make sure something is not touching what it should be, such in the way of a short. Other wise you might have to take the car to a shop to see what is going on. Listen I am not saying you did not do a good job putting that starter in. Just that sometimes things get lost or miss placed when things are put back  together. Hope this helps and good luck.
