Mitsubishi Repair: defrost on 2000 mitsubishi diamante, 2000 mitsubishi diamante, mitsubishi diamante

Question
Although my car heats and cools, I am having a difficult time getting all the windows to defog. Weather is not that cold, yet I have to put on rear defogger, and have tried 65 - 90 degrees to get the windows defogged and can't. Could it be a thermostat issue?

Answer
Shannon: Can you by any chance smell coolant at the same time your window fog up? My ideas to check would be as follows...(because I think you have poor coolant circulation and for some reason the coolant is getting into your heater, then onto your windows). I had a car doing that once, years ago. Only it was a Ford but yet cars are the same in a lot of ways. Anyway a lot going on here tonight, sorry. Try checking your water pump make sure it is not leaking, that would be a sign it needs to be replaced. Check all your hoses, one could be bad and not moving the water like it should. The water pump belt could be needing to be replaced. And then yes have your thermostat checked and then changed. I do hope this helps and good luck!
