Mitsubishi Repair: fuel pump on 1994 diamante sohc, mitsubishi diamante, 1994 mitsubishi diamante

hi there.  can you please tell me where the fuel pump is on a 1994 mitsubishi diamante es sohc?  also, how do i get diagnostic codes on this car, its got a 16 pin data link connector that requires a trouble code harness #MB991529.  i called the local mitsubishi dealer and they had no clue what i was talking about.  do you know where i can find this?  thanks.

Your fuel pump is located on top of your fuel tank, behind your rear seat cushions.  I'm not sure of the procedure a mechanic would use to replace the pump, but it may require removing the fuel tank from the car to do so.  

The dealership that you contacted obviously is confused because you are correct.  MB991529 is the part number for the trouble code harness for your car, and your car does have a 16-pin data link connector.  

If your check engine light is on, that means there is a problem that your car's computer is seeing.  Your data link connector would not put out any trouble codes unless the check engine light is on.  But you don't need the Mitsubishi code scanner to read codes.  Any on-board diagnostic 1 reader (OBD-1) would work for your car.  You can call your local auto parts stores to see if they carry any of these.  You can even search for one on the internet.
