Mitsubishi Repair: 92 eclipse fuel pump, combustion chambers, fuel pump

Question
92 mits eclipse 1.8L 4cyl, manual

hi there,
i was drving my car going about thirty and the car stalled will i was driving, I tried to start it while moving but that didn't work, so i poped the clutch hoping to kind of push start it but that just slowed the car down. So i'm thinking this is the fuel pump, does that sound right?
Also i was trying to find the fuse for the fuel pump to check that but i can't seem to find it, i checked in the hood and in the driver seat compartment but coulnd't find it. Have any ideas?
thanks for your help

Answer
Abe,
I had nearly the same problem happen with my Eclipse several years ago, but I was doing about 70 mph.  Turns out it was my fuel pump.  The fuel pump had burnt out, and when no fuel gets to the engine, your car's computer blows the ignition fusible link (and possibly others) to shut the car off.  This even prevents the engine from restarting.  Because if too much air and not enough fuel enters your combustion chambers, it can cause detenation.  And that can ruin your entire engine.

Check your fuel pump and fuel pump connections back in your trunk.  Also replace your fuel filter; it may be excessively clogged.  Check all your fuses on and around your battery.  You'll probably find a blown one.  If you have a voltmeter, you can even check your relays as well.
Good luck!
