Motorcycle Repair: 2002 honda, sheet metal screw, spark plug wire

Question
I was wondering if you could help me with a prob with my 2002 honda rancher I am not getting fire to my spark plug I changed the statir, coil , cdi box if you could help me that would be great thanks Jason

Answer
I have worked on these before. Check to see if you have power to the coil with a test light. If so have you changed out the resistor cap at the end of the spark plug wire.It has at least 5 ohms of resistance and can short out not allowing the plug to fire even though the coil is good.
The resistor screws on with a sheet metal screw inside the insulated housing. Take it off and check the continuity through it with a small multi tester. Also when you changed the stator did you also change the pick up coil.Make sure the connectors are secure from the stator to the harness connector and that the metal contacts inside if the plastic connectors havent pushed back not touching. Also this will sound stupid but did you change the spark plug.I have had numerous customers who could'nt get their quad running and all I did was change the spark plug and it ran.
