Motorcycle Repair: 81 wideglide, starter solenoid, jumper wire

hello i have a 81 wideglide when i hit the start button it just clicks..my battery was old i put in a new one,i put in a new solinoid...still has the same problem.i tried using a screwdriver to jump the soliniod but nothing.i got the dry primary cover off,i can feel the solinoid click but nothing is moving..im not going near the gear..plus i have the plugs out so it can start...i just bought this off a guy...he said it was cranking but wouldnt quit.so he undid the battery...i need some help..thanks frank

Do you have 12 volts going to the solenoid from the battery? When you hit the starter button do you have 123 volts at the small post on the starter solenoid? Run a jumper wire fromt he hot side of the battery to the small post on the starter solenoid. Does the starter geat turn?
