Motorcycle Repair: honda sl90, honda cb750, level gauge

Question
thanks bill. i found the markings on carbs and your right its a SL90A also the markings in the main jet..the battery is new and fully charge.ahm bill about the float setting at 5mm,what do you mean by that?you mean the level of gasoline in the bowl is only about 5mm or what? now i want to buy a new carb but its hard to find the sl90 carb here in our place..i dont know bill if its ok to buy a a cl90 carb as long as the main jet or idle jet no. is the same..

Answer
Pablo, the 5mm setting is the height above the carb body to the highest portion of the float, when the float tang is just pushing the float needle closed into the seat, but not compressing the spring-loaded needle tip. I don't know what this carb looks like, as the float level setting shown in the Honda tune-up book as 5.0mm is way off from normal float level settings which are in the 19 to 21mm ranges on other S90 models. The S90A carb setting is 19.5mm. 5mm is right around .200"

As long as the S90 or CL90 carb is the same venturi size, then the same jetting should be close. Make sure you are buying a genuine Keihin carburetor, not some Chinese knock-off instead.
