Motorcycle Repair: CB125 N disc brake, honda cb125t, cmsnl

Question
g'day bill, I'm restoring a 1980 CB125N for the beach house, its all 99% sorted but i cant get the front disc brake to operate at all, there is no evidence in its 16,000Km that its ever worked to be frank, the pads are like new, the ramping up mechanism/cable/lever/perch are all happy but i think there is something missing that holds the outer pad inplace so as the locating pin holds fast and actuates the ramp mechanism, all that happens is the outer pad rotates until you have zero cable left to pull....i cant find a schematic of it anywhere either...can you offer any help? regards, Tony. Answer
Tony, most of the cable operated brakes were used on early CB125S, CB200T, MT125R and the CB125T models.

Here is an illustration of the parts involved. I recall that the self-adjusting ratchet needed to be set up close, so it could continue on its own, during normal operation.

I can't say that I have had one apart for about 10 years, so I don't have any fresh recollections about difficulties and solutions.

Hope the illustrations are helpful
