Motorcycle Repair: Honda CDI, honda magnas, cmsnl

Question
I realize this is not concerning a CBX1000 or CB1100R but you appear to be the closest fit for possibly getting an answer.  If I have determined that the CDI is bad, is there an outfit within the USA that will repair CDI's?  In particular, I restore 1987 and 1988 Honda Magnas and have a box full of CDI's that are known bad.  I'd just like to send them all in for repair.  Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Chris

Answer
Hi Chris,

I think a lot of that era Honda's have the OKI type CDI igniters.  I know an outfit in Holland who supply equivalent units for the CBX1000 1979 and 1981 models, which have different connectors.  I do not think they can be repaired, so replacement is the only option...  From Honda the igniters were $200 each, these units cost about $150.  Let me know if these are OKI 200 units, the website that sells the replacements is www.cmsnl.com

Good luck,  Jan

P.S. If enough interest, I will be in Holland next week and can bring some back...?
