Motorcycle Repair: New Handlebars, control wires, drag bars

QUESTION: I would like to know the best place on 09 Night Train where hand control wires can be disconnected so I can pass them inside the handlebars therefore concealing them and giving the front end a cleaner look. I am installing low rise Z-bars on the stock risers. I have removed stock Drag bars ,grip, throttle...and I have been stuck at this point for 4.5 hours...any assistance or insight would be greatly appreciated.

ANSWER: Follow the wires to the plugins and remove the plugs, then run the wires through. Make sure you either have a wiring diagram or write them down so you know where they go

QUESTION: Mike,
Thanks for the answer ....my problem is more complicated (for me).The wires running to the controls are underneath the gas tank. The wires must be attached to the tank in a spot not visible when looking underneath it. Does the tank have to be removed? Is there a harness or a wire tie-in spot below the tank I can get to without removing it? If the tank does have to come off how do you do that?

Answer
The wires are plugged in under the tank. You have to drain the tank, disconnect the fuel lines and crossover line and then remove the bolts holding the tank at the front and rear. When you disconnect the crossover you will get some gas running out, so have a can ready to catch it. Once you have all this done the tank will lift off
