Question
my father-inlaw has an older Honda i have a Harley i know enough about my bike to get by but i don't know the first thing about a Honda it is older and he said sometimes it runs and sometimes it just dies he took it to Honda and they told him it was the stator and that it would cost 375 to fix. i know how to replace a stator on a Harley but i don't even know where the stator is on a Honda

Answer
Todd, you didn't tell me which older Honda you have... and all have stators, but they don't always go bad. If it has failed, though, most of them are easy to replace, other than Gold Wing and Silver Wing models. Usually the regulator or rectifiers fail, unless the bike has gone down on the stator side of the engine.

There are on-line microfiche services where you can look up your bike, view the parts illustrations and check pricing.

www.cmsnl.com is one
www.bikebandit.com is one, but they don't use OEM Honda part numbers.
