Motorcycle Repair: lifters, hydraulic lifters, alignment tool

Question
Hello Mike,Its Mario from OZ.I have a 92 dyna glide coustom evo 80 cube.Mike, can you test hydraulic lifters for leakage?I have a noisy lifter and no matter where I set it at its still noisy, mainly at high rpms.I would like to change them, put some S&S with HL2T kits, however my manual says to use an aligning tool for the lifter body,I don't have this tool.Do I really need it,is there a alternative way?Do I need to adjust the push rods differently with the HL2T kits in lifters. Thanks for your help.

Answer
When you get the kit from S&S it will come with instructions for installation. There is no test I know of for leakage. The noise you hear at high RPMs is probably the lifters floating. They dont do well at really high RPMs. You dont really need the alignment tool. Just square them up and go in a criss-cross pattern and you will be fine.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
