Motorcycle Repair: 1987 suzuki lt500 wont start, lt500 quadzilla, suzuki lt500

Question
i just bought a 87 lt500 quadzilla from a friend it ran 8 years ago when parked.he rebuilt carb and cleaned tank and new filter and fuel lines and new spark plug recently.i checked for spark and looks like it has spark maybe weak,it doesnt seem like its even trying to fire when kicking over.it has a keihin pwk carb # 9dgad ff. not sure what size carb it is. i took it apart and cleaned out, not sure how far the idle adjust screw needs out and air screw needs to be out they were both out 2 turns i also disconnected the key switch and hooked the 2 wires together that went to switch. i was wanting to test my electrical components to see if i had a bad one do you have any idea on the tests and what the readings should be thanks David

Answer
hello david,

if you are getting fire then you probably not gettin fuel because these 2 combined while create combustion. i would check to see if you are getting fuel to the intake , what i would do is to take off the air cleaner and spray some starting fluid in the carbs intake while turning it over if it doesnt start, then I would check to see why you are not getting a hotter spark from your plug .ihope this helps let me know ok. if you need more help from me.

Sincerely,
Mitch
