Motorcycle Repair: Clutch adjustment, honda cb 650, clutch adjustment

Question
I have a 1980 Honda CB 650 Custom. I m trying to replace the clutch. I changed the friction and steel plates and the springs. When I was done the bike no longer slipped. But now it creeps forward, shifts difficult, and will not go into neutral while the bike is running. I tried adjusting the cable as well as the adjustment in the housing. Its still bad. Any help would be great.

Answer
The clutch is still dragging. The adjustment inside the cover isn't correct.  Turn the cable adjusters to the minimum length. Then take the plug out in the clutch cover.  You have to loosen the lock nut and turn the adjustment screw all the way in until you feel a slight resistance to take all the slack out.  Then back it out 1/2 turn and tighten the lock nut. You may have the back the screw out instead of turn it in, I can't remember any more.  But the point is to take out the slack and then put just a little slack back in so there's just a little freeplay. Readjust the cable length and you should be good to go.
