Motorcycle Repair: honda cb750 with no spark, 1974 honda cb750, fuse panel


Question
I have a 1974 Honda cb750 that i just bought and it was all taken apart. so the wiring is a night mare i tried to wire it my self with the help of some internet wiring diagrams but no luck i cant get it to spark and i have no clue why im kind of new at this so i was wondering if you could help thanx

Sam,

as far as having spark goes you need battery
power coming from the ignition
switch to the fuse with the yellow/blue wire.
Then up to the run/stop switch.

From the run/stop switch there is a black/white
wire that sends the power up to the igntion coils.
If you turn on the key you should be able
to check if there is power to both coils.

If not, check your fuses/fuse panel, wiring
to the ignition switch and the wiring up
to the run/stop switch and to the coils.

The blue and yellow wires on the coils
go down to each set of contact points under
the big chrome cover on the engine.

The points must be flat and clean,
each set gapped to about .014" and the
timing set for each set with a timing light
to fire on it's "F" mark at idle.

You need a good battery to get spark also.
