Motorcycle Repair: 89 ulta glide clutch, clutch lever, clutch cable

QUESTION: Thanks fot the help on the starter problem mike, we got it and the sanp ring problem fixed. Now the clutch wants to slip in 4th and 5th gear with large power inputs.  Was wondering how to fix this problem.

ANSWER: Check the adjustment on the clutch and make sure itsn ot to tight or it will slip. If it still slips, then you will have to pull the clutch and inspect the plates for wear

QUESTION: would that be a clutch cable adjustment(the hex on the front of the clutch) or the 4 bolts on the front of the clutch.

Answer
With the bike sitting upright, loosen the cable so it has some slack in it.. remove the derby cover and in the center of the clutch you will see the adjuster. Loosen it and then turn it inward, just until it bottoms out and then outward about 1/8 of a turn. Now go to the cable and adjust it so you have about 1/8 inch play in the clutch lever and you got it set
