Motorcycle Repair: clutch, honda shadow sabre, 2001 honda shadow sabre

Question
Do you know if the 2001 Honda Shadow Sabre has what they call an integrated clutch?

Answer
Jon,

the clutch has similarities to a true integrated clutch
design but it is a standard wet bath multi-plate motorcycle
style clutch. The integrated clutch is mostly
used in industrial and some automotive applications.
It often uses hydraulic pumps and dampers to absorb shock.
Some motorcycle clutch hubs use shock dampening
mechanisms but are mostly engaged/disengaged mechanically.
Both clutches use a multi-plate design.
I would not call the Sabre clutch an integrated
clutch as far as the new patent definitions go.
The clutch design the Sabre uses has been around for
many years and was very much the same in early
Hondas of the 1960's. It is a good reliable and
easy to fix part.
