Motorcycle Repair: 74 74 no spark, timing light, loud pop

QUESTION: 74 FXE no spark to front jug. Rode heard loud pop, bike died, replaced coil, points, condensor, and wiring from coil, cleaned ground, kick only, will back fire a couple of pops and then nothing

ANSWER: Are you still not getting spark to the front jug?

QUESTION: got strong spark on both jugs now put front jug on tdc and adjusted timing mark, bike runs while twisting throttle but runs ruff

ANSWER: With the bike running set the timing wit a timing light and let me know if it is still running rough

QUESTION: how do i time with an open primary

Answer
it doesnt matter if you have a open primary. Remove the timeing plug on the left side of the case. You will have to insert a clear plug in the hole or oil will come out and then time it with a timing light at 35 degrees
