Motorcycle Repair: Tranny mainshaft fluid leak, fluid leak, happy thanksgiving

Question
QUESTION: The bike is a 2K Fat Boy w/50K miles.  I am trying to resolve a fluid leak that was dripping from the left side of the frame in the area of the trans sprocket.
Pulled the primary cover and inner primary and discovered fluid pooling within the trans sprocket (I can email a photo).
The leak does not appear to be coming from the seal behind the trans mainshaft bearing race, but from behind the locking place under the trans mainshaft sprocket nut.
Question: anyone have a clue what (seal ?) may be causing the fluid leak?
Another thing I noticed is that I can rotate the trans mainshaft about 60 degrees before the trans sprocket begins to move.  Is this normal or is the trans sprocket supposed to rotate in unison with the trans mainshaft?
Any guidance would be appreciated.

ANSWER: Is it trans fluid that is leaking or primary fluid that is leaking?

QUESTION: Transmission fluid

Answer
There are two seals where you are talking about. One is the main seal and the other is the seal behind the race. Since you have it apart I would replace both and then check for leaks.
Also, on the trans there is some play in the gears.
Happy Thanksgiving
