Motorcycle Repair: pw-50, throttle cable, yahama

Question
my son has a 1999 yahama pw-50 i just had to change the upper throttle cable, everything looked fine reassembling the cable, but now it will start and idle fine but when put in run it goes wide open and wont stop. is this adjustments that need to be made?

Answer
Nathan,

the pw50 start/run button is designed
to prevent revving in the start position.
As soon as you put it in run it is free
to rev up. I suspect the cable or carb
is not allowing the carb slide
to close completely. Recheck for some
free play on the cable and
check the carb again.
The buttons are sensitive to moisture
and sometimes need cleaning, also
check the connectors around the
front of the bike.
