Motorcycle Repair: Valve adjustment, honda shop, valve clearance

Question
I have a 1994 Magna 750. I'm trying to adjust the valves, but see no information in my repair manual about procedures or clearance. Where do I find out more? Thanks

Answer
Randall,

the reason it is not in the manual is because
most owners don't have the tools or parts
to do the job. The valve clearance has to be recorded
for each valve, then the camshafts are removed
and the valve clearance shims are measured
and replaced with a new one of the necessary thickness.
There are sixty-five shim sizes in a shim set.
The clearance is intake .006"/ exhaust .010"
Most dealers should have the shims available.
You need a micrometer to check the shim sizes ideally.
The Honda shop manual should have this procedure
listed.
