Motorcycle Repair: 86 honda shadow vt1100, generator coils, pulse generators

i just bought this bike bout a year ago   it starts right up no problem  but after like 10 to 20 minuts   it shuts down and wont start back up for atleast 10 minuts      when this happens i get no spark at all  any suggestions ive tried everything im capeable of even teested the wifes for shorts   any help is greatly apreaciated

Kevin, spark is generated from the flywheel pulse generator coils, then sent to the CDI controller and then to the coils. The ignition switch and the KILL switches are also in the circuit.

If you are sure that ALL wiring connectors are clean and tight, as well as all ground connections, then you have to look at either pulse generator issues, which can be measured with an ohm meter or the CDI module is going south. Those are hard to measure/test without a factory manual chart, however. You would want to test components cold and then hot to see what is happening. If you are losing spark on all 4 plug at the same time, then it is more likely the CDI unit than pulse generators.
