Motorcycle Repair: front forks, fork seals, clymers

Question
I asked a previous question about the misfiring and I have one more about rebuilding the front forks. The forks are shot, leaking oil, and completely spongy.  Is it as easy as buying the kit or specific gaskets and seals and slapping it back together again.  After I replace the seals, where and how mucy fluid do I add for the correct cushion and give?  This is my first time attempting a forks rebuild.  Thanks again.

Answer
Taylor,

I believe you're asking me if rebuilding forks is easy.. on a scale of 1-10, 1 being easiest, rebuilding your forks are about a 7.  The actual rebuilding is not too bad, but it is a messy, meticulous job.

You probably only need to replace the oil and fork seals, but if you've never done this, this job alone can take you all day, start to finish.

You will need to purchase a service manual for you bike from clymers, this will not only outline the process, but will also tell you all the info you're looking for on fluid levels.
