Motorcycle Repair: Dirt bike, new spark, dirt bike

Question
Hey Collin,

Well I have a Yamaha 250 Enduro.  It runs perfect with a brand new spark plug installed, but after a day of the bike sitting it won't start unless you install another brand new spark plug. So basically, you need to insert a brand new spark plug every time you want to ride. Any ideas why this is happining? Would cleaning the carb and putting in a new air filter help?  Thanks, Chris

Answer
Ok, your most likely problem is a number of issues, most likely caused by you.  I'm not being mean, but 2 strokes r touchy and rider fault is usually the issue.

1.  When finished riding, or when the bike is off period, turn off your gas.

2. DO NOT twist throttle while starting bike unless it is totally warmed up.  Use your choke when starting cold till bike fires, then turn off choke and lightly gas it as u kick.

3. Make sure your mix isn't 2 rich.
