Motorcycle Repair: Passing lamps voltage or amp fuse info, 1100 vstar, fuse info

Question
The passing lamps on my 1100 vstar went out. I took the head lamp off and noticed the fuse for the passing lamps was melted on one end. I couldn't open the holder so I had to snip the wires to the white plastic fuse holder to cut it open to see what type/size fuse was need to replace it. 32v was in the holder and it hadn't popped but had melted one of the ends.
My question is, what fuse should I use since this one melted the holder.
When you get the chance,
Thank you,
Patrick

Answer
Hi Patrick,

What year is your Star? Are you the original and only owner?

32V is the voltage rating of the fuse. Can you see the amperage rating? It's imprinted near the 32V impression.

The amperage rating will be the load limit of the fuse. If a lighter duty fuse is necessary, use a smaller amperage rating so the cirucit will blow the fuse sooner. Too small of an amperage rating may prevent the lights from working properly.
