Motorcycle Repair: carburetor adjustment, honda goldwing, reputable shop

I have a 1988 Honda Goldwing GL1500.  The bike runs better with the choke on than when it is off. I am sure that the mixture is too lean. How do I adjust the carbs for this?  thanks!

Mike, most likely your idle circuit in your carbs have varnish in them and will need to be tore down and cleaned. just richening the idle circuit via mixtures screws will not fix the problem but make it worse. i would suggest if your not comfortable enough to clean the carbs to take it to a reputable shop and have them gone thru.
