Motorcycle Repair: Carb Removal, honda magna, throttle cable

Question
I am restoring an '86 Honda Magna VF700c. I am about to take off the frame from the engine but the carb seems to be in the way. I taken everyelse off, hoses, throttle cable, spark plugs, everything. It just seems to be the "bug aluminum air-box" is in the way. I can't see to get the carb off the engine. Am I doing something wrong? Or am I just forgetting something? Please Help!

Answer
Hi Joel.

Loosen the carbs from the manifolds and pull the airbox with the carbs still attached.  This is the easiest thing to do and will allow you to work on the carbs without messing with the synch or assembly order.  It may take a bit of fiddling around to work the assembly out and, later, back in, but it will save you a lot of headaches later.

Good luck and ride safe.
