Motorcycle Repair: 1988Suzuki Katana 600, breather filter, katana 600

Question
Bike runs great. Lots of power, however after riding for about 40 miles it begins to sputter and run on about 2 cylinders. I have found that if I pull the choke it will keep running poorly for a few minutes and then go back to running smoothly. This does not happen unless I go about the same distance, but it happens every time I do.
I am  not sure where to begin looking. It has new K&N air cleaners, and a new fuel and breather filter.

Answer
Hi Grant.

Start by checking all of the exhaust and intake connections.  Make sure that there are no loose connections.  Also make sure that the connections from the air filter box to the carbs is tight.

Also make sure that all of the plugs are tight in the cylinders and the plug connections to the coils are good and tight.

Start with that and see what happens.
Good luck and ride safe.
