Motorcycle Repair: tubeless tire, bandit 1200, wheel rim

Question
hi Falcon

i have a 97 bandit 1200 and i got the rear tire changed recently, about a week after the tire change i was on the way to work and the tire came off the wheel rim,i checked for a puncuture but found nothing but where the tire came off it looked like piece that splits to to seal the tire wasn't 'right' at that spot, does the wheel need to go back to the shop or could i fix it myself.? and would i be able to get enough air pressure from a normal compressor (ie petrol station)to seat the tire properly..?
thanks

tony

Answer
Hi Tony.

without the proper training equipment to check balance and other tire factors, I would suggest that you take it to the shop that put it on.  You could have a bad tire or a bad install.  The shop that installed it has a responsibility to fix it if they did it wrong or a responsibility (that the manufacturer will pay for) to replace it if the tire was faulty.

Good luck and ride safe.
