Motorcycle Repair: TRANSMISSION SLOP, slop, gears

Question
IS IT NORMAL TO BE ABLE TO MOVE A MOTORCYCLE  BACK AND FORTH ABOUT 2 INCHES OR SO WITH IT IN GEAR (ANY GEAR) AND THE BIKE SHUT OFF OR IS THERE PROBABLY SOMETHING WRONG IN THE TRANSMISSION?

You never said what model or year bike you have, but in general, yes you should be able to move the bike back and forth. There is some play in the chain as well as in the trans. If the trans was to tight it would bind or at worse burn the gears up.
