Motorcycle Repair: older kawasaki ninja, kawasaki dealership, kawasaki ninja

Question
hi chris
this question is certainly not part shopping, but more like defining, i recently picked up a "very" used zx600c, a 1989 model, and on the front forks it has a module and a sticker that boast "electronic suspension control system" and ive looked all over on the internet and cant get any info on it, the reason im asking is i dont know what the "escs" is supposed to do, and how to tell if its working, as i dont want to try and ride it with bad suspension , so if anything would you be able to point me in a direction that would give me some info on the 89 600's suspension? or should i just get newer zx6 forks without that module?

thanks
john

Answer
Hi John.

What you want to do is get the repair manual for the bike.  That will have some information on the ESCS for you.  If you can, you should get the factory manual as it will have more info on your bike than any other repair manuals on the market.

You could also try to talk to the head mechanic at your local Kawasaki dealership.  That person would definitely be able to give you some info on it.

Good luck and ride safe.
