Motorcycle Repair: replacing bulb in headlight, o clock, shadow spirit

Hey Falcon , ---------- The bulb is burned out in my headlight, ------ so how do I remove the glass faceplate so that I can get at the bulb in my headlight? I can't even get the chrome headlight cover to come loose, --- is there any special technique involved?

Hi Don.

On any bike with a round headlight, you have one or 2 screws that hold the lamp in place on the shell.

If you have only 1 lockdown screw, then it will be located at 6 o'clock on the headlight shell.  If you have 2 lockdown screws, then they will be located about 5 and 7 o'clock on the shell.  Once the screw(s) have been removed, then you swing the lamp up and off the shell.  The bulb normally sits in a recepticle that twists about 1/3 turn to remove/install from the lamp itself.

Reinstallation is the reverse of the removal proceedures, but it may take a bit of finagling to get it to fit back just right.
