Motorcycle Repair: carburator, honda xl, racing cams

good day mark

      have two questions. first there is smoke that comes out from the carb when the engine kunks out. second iam planning of using mikuni bn carburator (jetski carburator) for the bike what effect would that have on the bike.  my bike is honda xl 200cc modified for dragracing,msd ignition,lightened crankshaft,big valves,ported,dragpipes.stainless valves with ceramic coating.racing cams

A:  This is caused by regursion. Valve timing, valve clearances out of service limits, or worn valve faces/seats may cause this.


Q:  "...second iam planning of using mikuni bn carburator (jetski carburator) for the bike what effect would that have on the bike.

A:  I have no experience tuning this set-up. The diaphragms on a BN type carb may work well, I dunno.

I use and recommend Lectron brand carburetors for tunability and performance.

Sounds like an awesome tricked-out engine. Have any images? [smiling]
