what is the differnt between a 1 ring and 2 ring piston and do they haft to be used in pairs.

Hi Charles,

The difference is two rings seals the combustion chambers better. A smaller cylinder/piston is easier to seal and may require only one ring. Less weight, friction, less moving mass, less expensive to produce, etc...

Four stroke cycle engines need compression rings and oil scraper rings.

Using the correct piston and rings is important. Buy quality brand such as Wiseco.
