Mike, I have a 1984 FXRP and I have changed the tank for a quick bob, my problem is I am having a hard time getting a speedo that works properly.
My local bike shop is adamant that a 2:1 drive speedo is what I need but these consistently give too high readings. I have installed a new speedo drive, cable and clock. Any thoughts on what might be causing the problem? Thanks,Kevin.

Just so I give you the right answer, do you have the trans drive speedo or the front wheel drive speedo?
Mike
Mike, I'm sorry I should have foreseen this question. I have the front wheel drive - right hand side.

Answer
With a front wheel drive you should be using a 2:1 speedo. The drive and the cable has nothing to do with the speedo speed at which it runs so I am guessing the you have a bad speedo. Other than that I cant think of a reason that is doesnt work
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
