Motorcycle Repair: Stalling at idle and at speed, honda vt 750, e mail address

Question
My e-mail address is   jasper_586@hotmail.com
I have a 83 Honda VT 750. It will stall at idle after warm up and at different speeds at different time intervals. Once it stalls it will restart and either stall again or continue running. It seems sometimes if I gun it after a restart it will run longer before it stalls again.
A friend gave me the bike so the history I have on it is vague. It is a rebuilt cycle due to some accident so the millage is anyone's guest. It was running on only 2 cylinders and I found a very loose wire connection at the igintion brain.
While at speed during a stall I tried to jump start it but it would not jump start. Once I pulled over it restarted. It has a new ignition switch and I was told that the carbs were adjusted (what ever that means).

Answer
Hi Jack,

The cause of the problem may be from a variety of sources. I would need to perform a few checks to accurately diagnose the cause.

Check for evidence of rust or varnish in the carburetors, fuel tank and fuel system. Check related fuel components for proper operation.

Check all electrical connectors for clean, tight connections.

I'll send tech files to your email.

Respectfully,
