Motorcycle Repair: Taking out of Storage (no prep), honda vf750, v45 magna

Question
First let me say, Great Site & Thanks for all the info.

I have an 82 HONDA VF750 (V45 Magna) that I just moved out to N.C. after having been in storage in S. Calif. for about 12 months. No prep was done before putting the bike in storage. Prior to this 18 month period the bike had been in storage for another 12 months without prep.

After the first storage I started the bike and had no problem beyond gas leaking from the carbs. After a bit of driving they leaked less and then finally stopped leaking. I assume the floats became unstock.

I intended to clean and tune the the bike after this storage when circumstances caused me to move and store the bike for another year.

Of course the carbs are leaking again but this time I decided to get right to putting the bike in proper shape before taking it on the road. Plus the fuel tank was pretty much empty

I have taken the tank off and cleaned it out because there was some rust in it and have changed the oil and oil filter. I read other replies where you mentioned the carb cleaner from Yamaha that allows you to clean the carbs without removing them.

Questions...

Is it possible this Carb cleaner will unstick the floats?

Is there a list of things you would recomend I do after having the bike stored this long? (It was serviced (tuned-up) a few hundred miles before it went into storgae the first time.

Finally, any considerations to moving from such a dry climate to a much more humid one?

Thanks Again

Answer
You might have me confused with another person about the carb cleaner. The only way to properly clean a carb is to take it apart. Your carb leak is from the float sticking.
Dont worry about the move. There is no problem with that.
When you take a bike out of storage you need to change all the fluids and put in fresh gas and you should be good to go.
Good luck and happy riding
