Motorcycle Repair: carburetor removal, sprocket teeth, xlch

Question
How do i go about removing the carb from a 1975 XLCH Sportster?  I seem to have a fuel leak where the carb attaches to the manifold i think.  Also rear sprocket teeth seem to be spiking.  Is this something i should get bike into the shop for?
Thanks

Answer
To remove the carb, first remove the air filter cover, the air filter and the backplate. Looking from the left side of the bike at the carb you will see two nuts that hold the carb to the manifold. remove them and the carb will come off. Now remove the throttle cable from the carb.
As to the sprocket, if the teeth are spiking then it time to replace the sprocket as well as the chain and front sprocket. You can do the wrok yourself as long as you have a way to jack the bike up, cause you have to remove the rear wheel to do the work.
Good luck and happy riding
