Question -
where is the timming chain adjustment located on a 1980 Honda CB750K and how is it adjusted, as I got a slap in mine and it sounds like it's the chain
Answer -
Hi Jim, there were variations in chain tensioners those years, there should be two adjusters and I believe the one you want to try is Center of engine block, below carb bank.
Back off bolt and rotate engine clockwise. the tensioner is spring loaded and should take up the slack, the other tensioner is under the valve cover.

  good luck

Question:

I just looked at a 2nd engine I have (same as one on bike) and didn't see anything there other then 2- 10mm nuts (capped)with no adjustment nuts below them. But on the other hand there is (on the front of the engine) what looks to be some type of adjustment, it looks like a steel bar going into the block and is held in place by a bolt with a lock-nut on it. If you have some way of viewing picture(s) I can take and send some if that might be of help.

Answer
Hi Jim, Ok at this point let me advise you on the prudent thing to do. The adjuster in the front works in conjuction with those acorn nuts in the rear of the block. The entire procedure is very tricky and if not done EXACTLY right could lead to engine disaster. I would sleep a whole lot better if you took it to a professional and had the adjustment performed for you. The problem is the cam can push the chain adjuster in instead of out causing it to run very loose and damage the engine case. Also the cam cover needs to come off so the adjustments can be made correctly and it can be a very involved procedure, not really something for the do it yourselfer and I would hate to advise you on this procedure, end up in disaster and feel I was the reason your engine is now destroyed...so please let a qualified technician do it for you...I apologize if I have wasted your time and hope you can understand my position.

   sincerely
