Motorcycle Repair: Winterizing, trickle charge, street bikes

Question
What is the best thing to do to your bike so it will not rust over the winter? I read that spraying WD-40 over all chrome and metal parts will help.

What do you recommend I do to keep it in top shape while in storage?

Answer
Hi Ivan, spraying wd 40 on your bike is an excellent idea, as well as keep it covered, drain the float bowls of fuel and fill the tank full of gas and add a stabilizer. Take the battery into the house and trickle charge it once a month. Drain and refill your engine oil and ideally you want the tires off the ground on blocks of wood and covered to protect from dry rot. I rarely winterized any of my street bikes, they came into the living room for the winter..but thats just how I am.   thanks for asking
