Motorcycle Repair: Yamaha Leaking gas, fuel hoses, gas tank

I have a 1978 Yamaha 750XS and I opened the gas tank to see how much fuel was left when gas started pouring out above where the air filter sits. If I leave the bike standing straight up it doesnt leak

Hi Fred,

There is no question here.

To investigate the leak, try tightening the petcock fasteners, replacing the petcock seal, replacing the petcock, and/or replacing the fuel hoses and clamps attached between petcock and carbs.
