Motorcycle Repair: indicators not working, paul butterfield, mudguard

Question
Chris
I have  a kwack z650f4 1983 model, just moved the indicators from the rear mudguard onto the frame using some extensions, connected the wires back, and after about 2 mins all the indicators have now stopped and do not work, i have checked the connections  all 4 bulbs and the fuses, and they are ok, no wires were pulled. have you any suggestions what else it could be , or what to check.
many thanks

Answer
Hi Paul.
Did you just relocate the original lights, or did you replace them with aftermarket lights when you did the relocation?  That can mean all the difference.

If they are aftermarket lamps, then you will have to install a resistor (just a few miiliamps resistance) into each side for the new lights.  Conversely, you could place the originals back on in the new locations, which would also do the job.

If they are the originals, then you may not have a good ground and may need an additional ground run to insure a good one.  Also, there could be a short in the wiring that you cannot see, which you will need a multimeter to find.

That's about all that I can think of that would cause that problem.

Good luck.
