Motorcycle Repair: exhaust, honda cb750 custom, 1980 honda cb750

Question
I recently began to restore my 1980 Honda CB750 Custom.  I was removing the exhuast and had trouble with one of the studs.  It finally gave way and is just spinning.  The nut is not coming off and I am stuck.  What would be the best avenue to follow to remove the exhaust and repair this stud?

Answer
Steven, try to wedge a big screwdriver behind the flange while you are turning the nut with a ratchet. Be cafeful not to damage the cylinder fins, though.

Other options are: Grabbing the nut with a large set of Vise-Grips and twist/pull.

Air tools.... air ratchet while applying pressure from the back side of the flange.

Die grinder/Dremel tool with cutoff wheel. Cut away the nut until it drops off.

Take the cylinder head to a machine shop where they can insert a thread repair kit.
