My 97 Fatboy has a problem. Occassionally on start up it would backfire and blow the oil camp off and oil out of the tank. When running it has suction on the cap. The oil light goes out but now after a few minutes of running the engine sounds like it is in the beginning stages of seizing "squeeking". I don't want to run it for fear of locking it up. It has great compression and power. 9000 miles never run hard.
Could there be some king of crankcase ventilation system causing me problems?the oil pump? I await your expert reply. Thanks

Just a quick question. You didn't do any modifications to the bike just before this started?

Answer
Sounds like you crankcase vent tube is either plugged or bent. This is why your oil tank is being pressurized. The tube is located at the rear of the motor close to the bottom. Follow it and check it out and let me know.
Good luck and happy riding
