Motorcycle Repair: Stator replacement, harley service, harley dealer

I have a 1981 HD superglide FXE, I have to relace the stator. My question is, how easy is this for a everyday guy to do and is it very difficult? I have looked for skematics for the outer and inner primary that will show me all the way down to the stator. Would appreciate any info

Its not that hard of a job. Your best sourse for info is the harley service manual, which you can order from  a harley dealer. You are going to need an impact wrench to remove the motor sprocket nut. Just follow the book and you will be fine.
