Subject: turn signals, motor wont kick over
Question -
First off glad to see there are some guys around that can help. 79 Suzuki 850...signals will not work at all there is no electric to the signals. Had plugs and carb cleaned out,oil changed gaskets etc..motor acts like it is starving for gas. Can you help?

Hi Mark sorry for getting back to you so late ,but been extremely busy.

When I got the bike it had been sitting for 2yrs it was rode a couple of times in thise yrs,but after it was rode for about 15 mins or so it would just shut off and would not start back up. Afterwards it would not even kick over w/o a lot of serios kick starting but soon as the choke was released it would shut off.Currently had it all clened out like mentioned b-4 but it will not even produce enough of a spark to fire up. Some of the wires were cut from the electric start and the motor run switch but tried to bypass to get around the electric start. Have power to all but not enough spark do I need to connect those wires back to complet the circuit?

Answer
Larry,

Trying to communicate what you have, whats been done, and what to do next with electrical gremlins is not practical by email. I need to see what is there and trace circuits to determine what to do.

Do you have a service manual? If not, purchase one. It will pay for itself with the first home repair.

The turn signal circuit is pretty simple. Check the TS switch, bulbs, TS flasher, and ensure all circuit wires and clean and tightly connected.

The carburetors have varnished from storage and need cleaned. You wrote that they were cleaned. Was this done by a professional shop? Remember, every pinhole in the carbs is critical for proper operation. Be thorough and follow my repair files carefully. If you need assistance, email me. Check your email for the files.
